We are currently in Mexico! I lined up some post for you though for while we were gone. I guess I should start by letting you know this will be a very photo heavy post. There are just too many that are too good not to share. The Dallas World Aquarium is now my favorite. Yes, I live in Atlanta and The Georgia Aquarium should be my favorite. And yes, Mike and I visited it and enjoyed it a lot. This was a whole new experience. There were birds and fish surrounding you as you make your way to buy tickets.
The one thing I was not expecting was to see animals. I thought it was going to be all fish. But there were many species of birds, monkeys, and even a pair of sloths. It was really amazing. The sloths weren't even caged. Just perched in tree's snoozing away. The whole aquarium is about 3 stories high and we enjoyed every inch of it.
All of the animals felt so close. I feel like you can't even get this close to things at the zoo. You felt like you were a part of their habitat. There were canopies of trees with birds perching and a waterfall surrounded by monkeys jumping from limb to limb. The whole time we were thinking, "What's stopping them from coming of here"? Luckily, we made it out without being mauled. Another thing we enjoyed, a little stand that served adult beverages. Our margaritas made looking at animals close up that much more exciting!
It took about three hours for us to get through the entire aquarium. Partly because we had been on a seqway tour earlier that day and partly because of the margaritas. Mike thought seeing the manatee was pretty awesome. He was floating right up next to the glass as if he knew all the right angle for his photo opps. I think enjoyed seeing the sloths the most. They weren't particularly exciting but it was pretty cool being that close to them.
If you are in the Dallas area I definitely recommend going! It was an incredible experience.
